The Counterculture of the 1960’s

Elvis Presly was the first person to bring rock ‘n roll to America. After Elvis brought this new style of music to America many other talented singers decided to as well. One of these groups or “bands” called The Beach Boys, were widely popular, and still are to this day. The reason they were so popular is because they tackled new subjects that so far others had not, such as, drugs, free sex, black rights, and so forth. Soon others also started to tackle these types of themes.

Two bands from the 1960’s, the Beatles and the Rolling Stones, both came to America from Great Britain. They were the two most known and loved bands of their time. The Beatles started out as clean cut, and fresh boys, but by the end of their career they had changed drastically into druggies and rough men. The Rolling Stones however started out and ended up druggies. These two bands were each other’s biggest competition.

Kids during the counterculture of the 1960’s were looking for an escape, which they found through drugs, sex, getting out of reponsibility, and the new rock and roll music. During this time the kids didn’t know what hardship was, they were all in good positions with money and food, so they didn’t want to have to have responsibility. They wanted to escape from having to do hard things in life, they wanted to run away from their problems and try to find themselves.

Though the government tried to stop the movement of the counterculture by putting laws and restrictions on drugs and other problems during this time, the counterculture naturally collapsed around 1973.

The counterculture was not a very good time in American history, for many reasons, though it did give us the rock ‘n roll style of music we all love.

Is Homeschooling Beneficial to Students?

Yes. Homeschooling is very beneficial to students.

Why? Not only do the students get the same, or more, school work done in the same or less amount of  time than public schooling, they can also choose what courses they want to take, what things they personally want to learn about. Now of course they will take the usual Math, History, English, and Science but they also have the choices to do as many other studies as they want. They get choices in public school, but not as many as they have while doing homeschooling.

They are in a better environment. One of the biggest things people compare about public and homeschooling is the social life of the student. Yes, they are with more people and friends while at school, but they aren’t talking to them, they are studying by themselves listening to the teacher teaching them. They only see their friends a few times during the entire day while they are in the same building. But they hardly see their families. Ever. They are at school most of the day, come home and have to do homework, eat dinner, get ready for bed, go to sleep, and the cycle begins again. Homeschoolers are with their families during the day, they have stronger connections to their parents and siblings because they interact with them not just daily but hourly. Also, most of the children that grow up to be rebellious, suicidal, depressed, and just all together messed up, are that way because of the bullies at schools. (Yes it also depends on what their home life is like, but most of it is caused by the environment at school. Sometimes homeschoolers end up like this as well I will admit it does happen.)

They still get work done. Just because they are not with teachers in person, that does not mean they don’t get taught well. The teachers at public schools don’t talk to each student personally, they hardly interact with the students unless they have problems in class. So having a teacher online, with video classes is not much different, it may even be better in some cases.

You still have assignments. It may not be exactly like homework but homeschoolers still have school assignments for their classes that they have to accomplish. (Much like this essay)

Homeschooling is very beneficial to students. Now,  this is my own biased opinion, so you may not feel the same, but if you think about it, everything I have said in this report is true. (Also with everything going on right now with covid every “beneficial” thing about public school is gone.)

Thank you for reading!!

President Ronald Reagan

President Ronald Reagan was the 40th president of the United States of America, the president right after Jimmy Carter.

Reagan was mostly known for his personality and character traits that define who he was. He was a very optimistic person, always thinking positive and on the bright side, he always saw the good in others. He also was a “jack of all trades”, meaning he was good at lots of things and had many skills in different departments and areas.

He had a few jobs before he entered the army in WWII. They were: lifeguard, announcer for Chicago Cubs baseball games, and he also signed an acting contract with Warner Brothers and was with them for seven years.

He became the governor of California in 1966. He then became President in 1980 and had George H.W. Bush as his vice president who later became the next president.

Some of Reagan’s policies as president were: reduce regulation; reduce the growth of government spending; and tighten money supply to reduce inflation.

Ronald Reagan helped bring about the end of the Cold War, and he is ranked among the top 15 presidents. His quotes are also still used to this day.

Why blog-site can help you get a full-time job after college

For this essay I will be explaining in my own words why a blog-site can help someone get a full time job after graduating college.

  1. Writing is a universally wanted skill and blogging is the main source of writers .

Writing is a skill many people don’t have anymore. Most people don’t see or understand the importance of writing because of how “old” it is. People don’t write letters to each other anymore, instead they send texts, or emails. Writing is a skill universally needed because of how many people don’t understand it anymore, which is why if you have it, you will be successful.

  1. A blog -or blogs- can reflect your interests and what you succeed at.

Having blogs that people look at and can read is one way people can see what you are interested in and what things you succeed at. Imagine that you have a blog where you post every time you finish a goal of yours, as well as everything you do to accomplish your goal. People will read this and see your dedication, that you are willing to work to earn, and that is a great skill to have.

  1. You will have proof of different writing assignments you have done.

If you keep your essays, reports, and paper assignments from school, you will be able to show people that you actually worked to get out of school, and that you would be a good worker, or employee. (You also can continue to post papers and essays on your own opinions that will show this as well.)

  1. Blogging is a great way to develop a better writing technique.

Bloggers want to have good writing styles. They want to be able to communicate their opinions. And they want to sound smart. To do this they need to have good writing skills. They have to know how to spell correctly, and how to properly use punctuation.

  1. Many jobs require good writing skills.

There are many jobs out there that require you to have good writing skills, and since so many people don’t, if you do then you will have a higher chance of getting a good job at one of these companies because you have something they need that others don’t.
